About The Event
Every year the Old Starehian Society organizes a Gala Dinner event to take stock of our activities throughout the year. It is a day we honour our supporters, celebrate our achievements and strengthen the bonds we have nurtured over the years. We use the occasion to remind ourselves of the contribution required of us to the schools where we became women and men. We also identify ourselves with our duty to society and the nation.
2020 is a special year for OSS. The Society is celebrating our Golden Jubilee, 50 years since being founded. The Gala Dinner will be a commemorative event to appreciate our heritage, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to a prosperous future.
The objectives for this year’s Gala Dinner are:
To celebrate OSS’ heritage and achievements over the past 50 years.
To celebrate OSS and Starehe fraternity’s achievements in 2020.This includes honouring and awarding alumni and supporters who have:
(a) achieved distinction in their chosen field, or
(b) rendered outstanding service to society, or
(c) rendered outstanding service and demonstrated loyal interest in Starehe.
To raise funds to run OSS operations, which includes funding alumni welfare kitty, investment in capacity and capabilities to raise funds for the Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust (GMET), etc.
