Starehe Mourns the Loss of Charles Kamonde

Brothers and Sisters,

I have received with sadness the news of the passing of the late Charles Kamonde who was a long serving Librarian, PA and Fire Fighting champion in the Boys’ Centre. Many will also recall his participation in the 60th Anniversary Mt Kenya Challenge last year.

As you have seen from the updates from the medical team that came to Charles aid when he was diagnosed with a rapidly growing malignant brain tumour, they did all they could to help. Unfortunately the diagnosis came a little late in the day – those in the Centre know that Charles had complained of a persistent headache over a long period of time, and have come to terms with the sorrow of his demise.

Let us join Charles’ family and the entire Starehe fraternity in mourning his passing with dignity, and in time celebrate his life.

We are deeply grateful to the medical team of Old Starehians including Dr. Got, Dr. Kitunguu and all those who came forward to support Charles – and more are still contributing through the OSS Paybill no. 949494 for account: Kamonde. This is the true meaning of the fraternity we are building in OSS.

May God grant us consolation and rest Charles’ soul in eternal peace.
